This is one of the oldest wineries in Madrid. Its green façade is iconic, as is the tin bar counter with brass taps. Decorated with earthenware pitchers, barrels and tiles, along with blackboards with the tapas and dishes on offer. They are famous for the callos or the cod canapé, but don’t forget the dishes of the day: the cocido (stew), the giant white beans or the meatballs are excellent. To drink, well-poured draft beer and homemade vermouth. There's nowhere to sit, but huddling together is part of the charm. Very amiable staff. Bear in mind, they don’t take credit cards. An experience worth repeating.
