Founded in 1957 by a family from Palencia, this eatery still breathes the atmosphere of that era. It began life as a café and became a restaurant in the eighties, without ever losing its essence. The cooking is resolutely homemade, generous and free from artifice. Dishes such as Palencia-style jijas, battered hake, potatoes a la importancia with conger eel or Palencia-style vegetable stew share the table with sweetbreads, pickled dishes and pig’s trotters in Vizcayan sauce. Homemade desserts and a well-stocked, well-priced wine list complete the picture. It only opens at lunchtime. A place to travel back in time.
