A 19th century tavern renowned for its cocido madrileño (Madrid stew). They still serve it in three stages, the old-fashioned way, and cook it in a wood-fired oven in individual clay pots. The menu also offers roast lamb, callos and fish. If there’s room for dessert, their apple fritters comme highly recommended. A full of history venue, decorated with old photographs and paintings, exposed wood and net curtains at the windows. Booking is a must; there are two sittings at midday. Iconic.
