This family-run restaurant enjoys a prime location overlooking Bakio beach, just a few minutes from San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. Open since 1968, it is now run by Sorkunde and Gotzone, the founders’ daughters. The glass-fronted dining room, with large windows, and the small terrace make the most of the setting. The offering is based on updated Basque cuisine prepared with locally sourced ingredients, featuring dishes such as gratinated spider crab, wild turbot or begihandi squid in its ink. Being in the heartland of Bizkaia txakoli, the wine list deserves a special mention. A must-stop on the coastal route.
