Iconic and historic, Josep Pla’s favourite. A classic, austere feel, with large windows looking out over the countryside. The spacious dining room has linen-draped tables. Jaume Subirós, the current chef, offers excellent traditional Catalan cuisine with a French flair, made using local, seasonal products. The fried anchovy bones or the hare à la royale are sublime. The cheese board is impressive and it’s an absolute must. Service and wine selection at the same level. Rooms in the hotel. A mandatory stop.
