This historic, family-run venue first opened as a bar at the end of the 19th century before being established as a restaurant by the Grande family. With a cuisine based on traditional Castilian recipes, the roasted suckling pig and cocido madrileño are the signature dishes. Good set lunch menu. Spacious dining rooms, a tapas bar counter, private areas and a terrace that looks on to Plaza Mayor. The staff wear old-school short jackets. Madrid’s living history.
